Adult CPR/AED/ Adult First Aid

Adult CPR/AED course with Adult First Aid (AFA): The goal of this training program is to help participants develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond in a medical emergency. It involves gaining knowledge, practicing techniques, and demonstrating proficiency. The HSI CPR and AED training program is intended for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers, but desire or are required to be certified in CPR and the use of an AED. This program is not designed to meet pediatric first aid training regulatory requirements and should not be used for that purpose. There are no class prerequisites. Course fee: $65 payable via departmental transfer (preferred) or cash/check for individuals. Payment can be made on the course date or can be billed at the conclusion of the course. Course length: 7 hours. Schedule: Generally 8:30am-4:30pm with a 1-hour lunch break.

The HSI CPR and AED training program is intended for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers, but desire or are required to be certified in CPR and use an AED. There are no class prerequisites. Course fee: $35 payable via departmental transfer (preferred) or cash/check for individuals. Payment can be made on the course date or can be billed at the conclusion of the course. Course length: 3.5 hours. Schedule: Generally 8:30am-12:00 pm or 1:00pm-4:30pm.

Innovation & Collaboration Studio and Engineering Fundamentals Tour/Demo

Explore the Innovation & Collaboration Studio (ICS) and Engineering Fundamentals spaces during this guided tour and demonstration. Jeff Foote will lead participants through the ICS Orientation process, providing an inside look at the tools, safety practices, and workflows that support student innovation, prototyping, and project development within the makerspace. The tour also includes a visit to the Engineering Fundamentals woodworking lab, led by Michael Allen, where attendees will see demonstrations of key equipment and techniques. As part of the experience, participants will have the opportunity to create their own wooden Power T, highlighting the foundational skills used by engineering students. Important: Closed-toed shoes are required for all participants. Prerequisites: All attendees must register on the KICS Canvas page and complete the Policy Agreement quiz prior to the in-person orientation. Radiation Safety: Open Source

The open-source general radiation safety training is generally scheduled once a month. This training is for everyone working in a lab setting with open/loose sources of radioactive materials (powders and liquids). If you need training and cannot make one of the scheduled times listed, contact our office. The training usually takes 3 hours to complete. It covers radiation hazard information, exposure monitoring, safe use practices, instrumentation, and basic procedures for radiation workers on campus.
