Adobe Acrobat: Indexing, Searching, Combining - Going Beyond the Basics

In this short one-hour workshop we’ll dive deep into some of the power features of Acrobat Pro DC. You’ll learn how to Index one or hundreds of PDF’s with a single search, save a PDF in various formats such as a jpg, and combine multiple PFA’s into one large document that includes chapters. There will be time for questions, so be sure and bring them along and together we’ll find a solution.

Spark is a free cloud-based application that empowers you to create creative social media Post, Pages and Videos with voice-over. It’s very easy to use, and creating content is just a mouse click away. Adobe even provides stock photos and royalty-free music for the videos you create. Adobe has created a wonderful tool for producing online content. Because the application is cloud-based, you can start a project on one computer and continue editing it on another computer or device.

Microsoft Sway: Building a Quick Online Presentation

View Workshop Times
This workshop will teach you how to create a presentation without staying up all night to learn a new software package. Sway is a Microsoft app available to all UT faculty, staff, and students at no additional cost. Participants will learn how to quickly create a web-based, shareable presentation from an existing Word document. Easily add PDFs, videos, and other media to your presentation. Quickly adjust your presentation color-theme based on images in within your presentation. There will be time for a Q&A session.

Nvivo: Fundamentals

NVivo is a qualitative data-analysis package used to organize and analyze resources used in qualitative research. NVivo allows researchers to analyze documents, electronic web surveys, audio and video files, images, database tables, web pages, and social media content in one platform. This workshop will provide an overview of the software. The interface and features are demonstrated, along with examples of research projects utilizing the software. Participants will import and organize data in NVivo, add research notes and annotations, and code qualitative data in a variety of ways. Participants will also understand the potential of NVivo as a tool for organizing, questioning, visualizing, and reporting qualitative research data. It takes approximately 6 hours to complete this workshop.

InDesign can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. This is an introductory class that will give you a basic understanding of InDesign and how to use the different tools available therein.

Adobe Photoshop: Improving your Photos

In this class, participants learn to use masks to protect parts of an image from change, just like using masking tape to paint a room or a vehicle, or using a stencil to letter a sign. Students also learn to retouch photos. They will learn to remove unwanted objects from a picture, change a gray sky to partly cloudy, and brighten the colors.
