Search Smarter: Finding Answers You Can Count On

Fall Training 2026: Empower Your Skills with Supported Technologies

Searching the web is changing from simply pointing us toward sources to directly answering our questions. That can be incredibly useful when we're trying to get things done, but it also changes when and how we apply the research instincts we already have. In this interactive session, we'll explore how search is evolving, work through practical examples, and consider how the question, context, and consequences should shape where we look and what we rely on.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how AI-enhanced and answer-first search experiences are changing the way we find and interact with information online.
  • Evaluate whether an online answer provides sufficient evidence for the question being asked and the consequences of getting it wrong.
  • Select appropriate sources and verification strategies for common information needs, including questions about UT teaching and learning tools.
Workshop occurs in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
