Canvas Catalog is an outreach platform for non-credit/non-degree related purposes. Colleges or units may use Catalog to offer professional development, public outreach, or other certificate-based courses. Catalog extends access to those outside of the university community. Catalog offerings can be fee-based using a special payment gateway, or they can be offered at discounts based on special promotional codes, or at no additional cost to the participant. Customized certificates are available to users upon completion of activities. Catalog is a separate instance of Canvas and is the only avenue to provide external users to a Canvas-based course. This workshop provides an overview of how to set up extra credit in a Canvas course. Specifically, it will showcase how instructors can give extra points on a graded assignment, create an extra credit assignment, and assign a percentage weight to an extra credit assignment group. Canvas: Creating an Accommodations Profile in YuJa Verity |
The accommodations area in YuJa Verity (not to be confused with other SDS accommodations in Canvas quizzes) allows instructors the ability to assign a student, or group of students, their own set of YuJa Verity settings, or even excuse them from YuJa Verity altogether. If instructors want to give a student custom settings, an accommodations profile will need to be created before the exam date. | Innovation & Collaboration Studio and Engineering Fundamentals Tour/Demo | Explore the Innovation & Collaboration Studio (ICS) and Engineering Fundamentals spaces during this guided tour and demonstration. Jeff Foote will lead participants through the ICS Orientation process, providing an inside look at the tools, safety practices, and workflows that support student innovation, prototyping, and project development within the makerspace. The tour also includes a visit to the Engineering Fundamentals woodworking lab, led by Michael Allen, where attendees will see demonstrations of key equipment and techniques. As part of the experience, participants will have the opportunity to create their own wooden Power T, highlighting the foundational skills used by engineering students.
