Creating accessible digital content ensures that all students, faculty, and staff can engage fully with course materials and administrative resources. YuJa Panorama is an accessibility and remediation platform integrated within Canvas (Online@UT) that automatically scans digital content, evaluates uploaded files (such as PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint slides), and provides actionable accessibility scores alongside guided inline remediation.

For faculty and staff who need to evaluate and remediate documents outside of a Canvas course, YuJa Panorama’s DocHub serves as a cloud-based repository. DocHub allows users to upload, store, check, and remediate standalone files, while enabling automated generation of alternative formats—such as audio MP3, ePub, electronic Braille, and OCRed PDFs—to support diverse learning needs.

In this 30-minute workshop, participants will discover how to leverage YuJa Panorama and the DocHub to quickly evaluate document accessibility, execute guided fixes, and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

At this end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Navigate YuJa Panorama: Interpret document accessibility scores and detailed issue reports across Canvas course materials.
• Utilize Guided Remediation: Apply step-by-step suggestions and inline tools to resolve common accessibility barriers in documents.
• Manage Files in DocHub: Upload, organize, and evaluate standalone documents outside of Canvas using the DocHub cloud workspace.
• Generate Alternative Formats: Produce accessible alternative file formats (audio, ePub, electronic Braille, OCR) to support universal design for learning.

Canvas Catalog is an outreach platform for non-credit/non-degree related purposes. Colleges or units may use Catalog to offer professional development, public outreach, or other certificate-based courses. Catalog extends access to those outside of the university community. Catalog offerings can be fee-based using a special payment gateway, or they can be offered at discounts based on special promotional codes, or at no additional cost to the participant. Customized certificates are available to users upon completion of activities. Catalog is a separate instance of Canvas and is the only avenue to provide external users to a Canvas-based course.

This 30-minute session will explore Canvas from the student perspective, with a focus on the Canvas Student mobile app. We will begin by discussing why the mobile Canvas experience matters, especially as many students regularly use mobile devices to access course content while instructors and instructional designers often focus mainly on the desktop version when designing Canvas courses.

The session will then include a live demonstration of the Canvas Student app, showing how students navigate courses, check announcements, access modules and assignments, view grades, and manage other common course activities. After the demonstration, we will compare the mobile app with the desktop version of Canvas and discuss key differences, strengths, and limitations from the student perspective. The session will conclude with practical considerations for instructors and instructional designers on how to design Canvas courses that work well across both desktop and mobile environments.

This workshop/consultation session will assist you through the steps of applying the UTK Canvas Course Template to your Canvas courses. The template will ease your Canvas course design efforts and your students will appreciate the clear and consistent navigation the template offers.

This workshop will focus on the Canvas assignment tool faculty can use to track and/or improve student learning. Instructors will also learn the relationship between Canvas assignments and the grade book. We'll go beyond the nuts and bolts of assignment creation and management by learning about many best practices and helpful hints that can contribute toward a better, more efficient online experience for both you and your students.

The accommodations area in YuJa Verity (not to be confused with other SDS accommodations in Canvas quizzes) allows instructors the ability to assign a student, or group of students, their own set of YuJa Verity settings, or even excuse them from YuJa Verity altogether. If instructors want to give a student custom settings, an accommodations profile will need to be created before the exam date. By the end of this session, instructors will be able to create accommodations profiles in YuJa Verity and apply them as needed.

UTK’s accessibility tool, YuJa Panorama, can help with this. Join us as we learn the basics of using YuJa Panorama in your Canvas course shells to meet digital accessibility standards.

This is an overview session on how to set up YuJa Verity on quizzes and exams in Canvas. There are two distinct YuJa Verity tools: the lockdown app and the browser extension. We’ll discuss settings on both, as well as some best practices on when to use which tool. By the end of this session, you should be able to create YuJa Verity profiles and apply them to your quizzes and exams.

Participants will learn more about course quota, the Modules-Files-Pages relationship, how to create a helpful Course Menu and Home Page for their Canvas course sites, and more.

• Identify the differences among Canvas course sites' Files, Pages, and Modules.
• Recognize the benefits of Files, Pages, and Modules, as well as any drawback of each.

Designed for instructors, this workshop provides an overview of the Canvas Portfolio tool and its benefits. Using Portfolio features allows students to create work that aligns with defined requirements and skills. We walk participants through the differences between Canvas Portfolio and legacy ePortfolio and Portfolium (Folio) tools and functionalities. Participants will also learn how to create a Showcase and Evaluation portfolio and integrate it into Speedgrader.

• Navigate the Panopto interface and understand its core features.
• Record and upload video content using both the desktop app and browser-based tools.

This workshop will cover practical techniques for uploading and managing Panopto content within Canvas. Panopto is fully integrated with Canvas allowing instructors to share content to their Canvas course without leaving the course site. Learn how to add Panopto video content to your course using the external tools and text editor functions inside of Canvas. Integrate videos within the assignments function in Canvas to allow students to submit their own Panopto videos for feedback and grades.

This workshop provides an overview of how to set up extra credit in a Canvas course. Specifically, it will showcase how instructors can give extra points on a graded assignment, create an extra credit assignment, and assign a percentage weight to an extra credit assignment group. The workshop will also highlight additional scenarios that instructors need to consider as they grade students, such as when and how to change points earned after submission, how to create extra credit using a rubric, and how to add fudge points.

Canvas Credentials is a digital badging platform within Canvas for recognizing achievement. Digital badges provide a visual, online representation of students’ accomplishments, skills, and/or achievements. Badges are a great way to improve student learning and engagement as they enable the ability for instructors to identify skills students have gained or still need to earn.

Join us in this workshop as we provide an overview and demonstration of digital badges and their benefits. We will walk you through how to access Canvas Credentials, create and issue badges, revoke badges, and manage awarded badges.
